The Author with Kelby our Labrador dog. Fighting him in a play fight was immense fun and I could indulge in the classic “man bites dog” scenario. We used to take him a for a walk on the beach and the picture below is of Kelby and me at Castor Bay beach.
On occasion we looked after a a Red Setter bitch named Chantelle with whom Kelby got on extremely well. The two dogs ran about all day together until they were exhausted yet when it came time for a walk they were both eager to get going. Owning a dog is a great experience but I discovered how much attention they need and unless I can give them that then dogs are somebody else’s pets for me.
